J&K no longer a part of India says, Maharashtra’s SSC textbookThis year newly printed textbooks of the SSC (Maharashtra) depicted a large part of the J&K outside the boundary lines of the India. Not only this, but the textbooks also contain faulty picture of the national flag. These and other such errors were pointed out by the Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil in a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In the letter Patil also demanded the immediate arrest of the person/s guilty and responsible for this gauche act. All these errors belong to the class 10 Geography textbook. Patil pointed that all the errors are in the textbooks recently published by the Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production & Curriculum Research for the academic year starting 2018. “In chapter 3, page 24, a map of India is published but it is very erroneous as a large part of Jammu & Kashmir is not shown within the borders of the country,” he said in the letter. Similarly, in chapter 2, page 9, national falg has been published in which the color of the Ashok Chakra is wrong. He further said that earlier, the textbook was kept in a seminar for a review when former school Principal K.U. Sonawane and others raised some serious objection and asked to make the necessary corrections. “However, the required changes were not made and the textbooks carry the wrong images of India and the national tricolour, besides many other mistakes which have crept into the book,” Vikhe-Patil said. Patil demanded that mistakes be rectified and a revised version of the book should be made available from the next academic year. source https://www.brainbuxa.com/education-news/jk-no-longer-a-part-of-india-says-maharashtras-ssc-textbook-8239 22 DU colleges disregard UGC norms for setting complaints panelOf the 50 colleges under the DU, 22 were found in contempt of UGC’s (University Grants Commission) guidelines in setting up Internal Complaints Committee and electing students representatives democratically. UGC mandated the formation of ICC in colleges/universities to prevent the sexual harassment of the women at the workplace. According to the guidelines, the committee will consists of teachers, non-teaching staff, student representatives and an external member and a gazette notification for the same was issued in 2016. According to the survey, many DU colleges formed the ICC only this year. The survey was done by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). In the survey NSUI found that not even half of the respondents were aware of the formation of the ICC and 70 percent respondents said that the names and contact details of the members were not made public and there have been high incidents of the sexual harassment in the campus. source https://www.brainbuxa.com/education-news/22-du-colleges-disregard-ugc-norms-for-setting-complaints-panel-8238 Mumbai University to use holograms on answer sheetsIn a bid to eliminate the errors and publish the results of the exams on time the Mumbai University, which will continue with the onscreen assessment, will introduce holograms on the answer sheets. During the last year’s result fiasco, one of the reasons for the delay was that the sheets of the students could not be reconciled. In order to avoid such blunder, holograms containing the information of the students will be pasted on the answer sheets so that manual entry and related errors can be prevented. “Currently the answer sheets take in details through the bubble system where the students have to fill in the bubbles. This leads to several errors and reconciliation becomes difficult. Most institutes that use online assessment also have hologram system in place. So, we will introduce the system in the winter semester exam this year,” said Arjun Ghatule, acting director, Board of Examination and Assessment. source https://www.brainbuxa.com/education-news/mumbai-university-to-use-holograms-on-answer-sheets-8237 Karnataka to declare PUC II results on April 30PUC II results will be declared by the Karnataka Board on April 30, 2018.
